Baro Viva Ensemble Interview

DEULLER 2017. 5. 1. 15:48

4 people 4 different colours, multi entertainer
Q: It is fresh to have the collaboration of the 4 of you~

Jung Taewoo: Because of the drama, all 4 of us met for the first time. It was really nice and an honour.
Younha: Senior Jung Taewoo is in his 30th year debut, we should be the one feeling honoured.
Baro: Maybe because we have met on one of the kids variety program before so I don't feel unfamiliar. The kids were also very pretty.
Jung Taewoo: Recently, rather than me, the kids are more popular (laughs)
Jung Seonkyung: As you can see, this team is very cheerful. I get a lot of youthful energy from this team. (laughs)

Q: It is the 9th times Jung Seonkyung participated in this. It seems like you felt a new set of emotions.
Jung Seonkyung: It is already that long? Even time when I film I feel excited. This year's filming was fun as well.
Jung Taewoo: Wa, 9th times? (hinting that this drama is done every year) I never knew. Why is it that you only call me now?
Everyone: (Laughs)

Q: I am curious how did everyone else joined this production?
Younha: Senior Jung Seonkyung gave me the proposal. She also told me the purpose of this drama, especially because there is music element in this production and it suits me so she asked me to do it. After reading the script book, i was even more set to do it.
Jung Seonkyung: I do even casting now (laughs). If I go on like this, it would be fine it I become an honorary ambassador for viva ensemble isn't it?

Q: There are lots of praises on your acting for you two singers.
Younha:
Thank you for watching me well. It has been a long time since my last acting in The Suicide forest in 2011, so I was feeling very worried. but because the staffs around us made us comfortable so we were able to work hard and have fun.
Baro: I once acted as an autism kid a few years ago. On the basis of that, I researched more and get immersed in the role. Even though Sunwoo (his character's name) is suffering from autism, there are also points that he is similar with me in my daily life, so I don't feel distanced at all.

Q: The other B1A4 members are also trying out acting so there seems to be some competition.
Baro:
For Jinyoung, he acted in Love in the Moonlight, he also shot a movie and other members are also taking part in musicals. Rather than competing against each other, we cheer for each other more. Everyone's character and personality is different so there is nothing to compare about. (laughs)

Want to break the stereotype of the handicapped people.
Q: I am curious if you like the character that you are acting.
Jung Seonkyung: This year, my character is something different. It seems that I got upgraded? I usually act as the parents of the handicapped kid or the teacher, this year sharp and forward speaking music critique. I like new things.
Jung Taewoo: It is the first time in my 30 years of acting I acted as a conductor. On top of that, I am actually someone who can't follow beats. When we were practicing, it was really hard, thanks to this I think I managed to get some sense of beats. I want to thank the person who gave me this chance to act as this.(laughs)

Q: If there was something that we felt while acting as a conductor, what would it be?
Jung Taewoo:
The autism kids in the show were all actors so there weren't much difficulty, however, in real life, how hard would it be for the conductor. Just handling one autism kid alone is hard enough but he has to get all the kids to do a performance together, this isn't something normal people can do. He has to understand the kids' mind.
In the script, there's this part that goes "A guardian and a conductor are the same" and I am moved by it. As someone who has married and have two kids, I carried the thought that "a guardian is no less important than a conductor when it comes to the kids" and got immersed in the character.

Q: Younha also appeared in the drama as a singer-songwriter~
Younha:
In the show, there was a scene where I wanted to get the kids to focus and started singing while playing the piano. Rather than a song that already exist, I thought a newly made song would be better so I did it, I wrote the song myself. As it is a song that I work hard composing, please give a lot of lot to it.
Baro: It is a song that you can only hear in the drama. It is really good (thumbs up) Like how when we hear the song in movie "Take off" (국가대표) and gets reminded of the movie, I hope that this song can be a representation song that will remind others about these kids.

Q: Baro acted as a viola player in the show~
Baro:
Actually, I have no idea how to play one at all. Just like how lipsync are, I am only handsyncing. It is really hard to make a sound out of it. However, in order for my actions to look as real as it is, I am still receiving lessons right now and practicing hard. I heard that in the real viva ensemble, there are kids who have hurts in their body too, but they are still able to pull off such amazing performance so I am really surprised and respect them.
Jung Taewoo: I also agree. In order to understand my character, I went to catch the perforance "Bbokko-ah Bbokko", it was a performance by the challenged kids and I was very moved.

I hope to communicate to everyone the heart-warming feelings we felt.
Q: If there was something special which you wish to communicate to everyone through the drama?
Baro:
Just like the character that I acted as, autism kids are more innocent than we think they are. In order to communicate such innocents, I will work hard. Later when the kids who watched this show has people around them who are challenged, I hope that they will not see them with a stereotype.
Jung Taewoo: In Korea, there seems to be not enough consideration for the challenged in terms of facilities and hearts. I hope that there will be more system where students who have handicaps can have dreams and hopes. I hope that there will be such drama or performance like "Bbokko-ah Bbokko" that will benefit them.

Q: Any last words:
Younha:
I am thankful that I am able participate in such a good production. Since it is a one-act play, we need to spread through word of mouth so that more people can come to know about this. We filmed this with hard work and I hope that many will watch it and will give unreserved support for it.
Baro: Many staffs and actors including myself worked hard in order to satisfy everyone. It is a drama with a good purpose so I hope that many will spread it and having fun watching it.
Jung Taewoo: Maybe because the intention of the drama is heart warming, so everyone from the staffs to the actors were all very caring. I hope that after it is broadcasted, we will be able communicate the warm heartedness and the same thoughts of caring for the handicapped.
Jung Seonkyung: Thank you for giving us a lot of love this year too. We filmed this with hard work and fun till the end, please watch over us.
