If you are like this, how can BANA not fall for you?

There is no way but to fall in love. With a good looking and pretty appearance, kind and straight up personality, and fits the "multi-talented" just right, is a person who has it all. When there is a time when he looks excessively perfect, he will suddenly become careless, giving off a very humane feeling. As he becomes a leader of an idol group, there are also times when he will transform in to a detailed producer. At times when he appears on screen, he also does extremely well in immersing into the character he is acting as readily. This is the story of B1A4's Jinyoung. This is the eudemonic of our positive energy cover story, Positive Jung.

The images of B1A4 members dancing to the sprout dance is still fresh in our eyes. As we see the members growing up little by little and striving hard in their own area, the image that they have now makes us happy and proud.

Especially in the case of Jinyoung, other than B1A4's activities last year, he firmed his position as a producer through Mnet Produce 101, he also solidify his position as an actor through KBS drama Love in the Moonlight. After the year end gathering of Mnet God of Music 2 at Hongdae, having a drink, it has been about half a year since we met him.

Q: It has been a while. How have you been?
A: I just came back from filming for KBS one-act drama "If we were seasons". We are also preparing for B1A4's comeback. Since our comeback last winter, half a year has passed. We are thinking hard about how we can fill the hearts of the fans who have been waiting all these while for a group comeback. 

Q: Will it be self composed songs too this time round? You are Jintoven who ranks 1st among the idols for self written songs in 2016.
A: Haha. Even though I am writing the songs, I still have no idea how would it turn out to be. Burden? If I were to carry a burden while writing the songs, the songs will show such feelings too. It is not about the songs that our fans wants, but I feel it has to have a very natural B1A4 feel.

Q: You changed your music style. There were also an abundance of live session.
A: If there were a real session, the whole groove of the music also changes. When you listen to the music, you can tell whether if the sound is made by a machine or by a person, it's very different. Such natural music is also what the members wants.

Q: Are there any times when you get writer's block while writing songs?
A: When those times comes, I will definitely take a rest. There are days when I am determined to write a song but it just doesn't come out. Then I will boldly take a rest. About 2 weeks later when I forget about the song as I live on my daily life, I will continue to write song.

Q: You are really busy as a group leader, producer and an actor. 
A: I can't pick which one of it comes first. Even if there is a time when I need to choose among those three, I don't think I will be able to choose. When I am just doing music, I like acting a lot. When I am acting, I like music a lot. No matter how, my goal is to be able to do them all. If you were to think carefully, those two are not exactly very different. During acting, there are scripts, in music, there are lyrics. In music, there's sound, in acting, there's tone. Even though the way it is expressed is different, but in the end, they are like the same thing.

Q: Some people might it this being greedy.
A: It's right that is a greed. I cannot give up on things that I like to do. When that happens, I would call for my greed.

Q: Are you also harbouring greed for drawing? You recently uploaded a few drawings you drew onto SNS.
A: Drawing is different. It is a form of healing. I went once and literally my mind feels empty. This is a period when I am troubled over a lot of things. However, during the 2 hours when I was drawing, nothing came to my mind. How should I say it, I felt refreshed. I felt my mind got clearer and I felt like I got healed. That was why I went again. When there are a lot of things in your mind and you are feeling confused, I recommend you to try drawing.

Q: Worry? What is your greatest worry right now?
A: It is the worry about coming back. Thinking about whether the fans and the public will like it? Musically, I feel that we need to broaden our music sphere. Since the past, I have been wanting to make music that everyone will like. In order to fulfil that, I would need to never stop worrying and work hard for it.

Q: You debuted on 23 April 2011. You have passed the 6th year mark and the seven year jinx is just right ahead.
A: There are still a lot of thing that I can do with the members. There are also a lot of things to talk about, we like each other a lot. So I am not afraid of that.

Q: If we were to combine the years of training too, B1A4 has been together for 9 years.
A: It's like one third of my life. Now I don't think I can live without them. Even though a part of it is because we matched, but being able to be together with members of such characters, it is definitely because my luck is good. It is a relief.

Q: If a person were to receive such popularity since young, on the hand, it is like poison to them. With such point, it is really great how B1A4 is able to come to this day with no scandal. Are there any tips for the new idol juniors who are walking this path?
A: Firstly, respect one another. Secondly, peace loving. Communicating is definitely important. We are humans and there are also times when our opinions don't match and there are also times when we raise our voices, when such things happen, if you were to talk about it immediately, things will be resolved. It is all possible because they are all good natured.

Q: Do you remember Mnet's Sesame player? On the episode where B1A4 is kidnapped to Gyeonggi-do, I was also there on the first recording. During then, the members said "Even if we were to get popular, we will not change". We could call it the safety device with "file that contains promises". That device, is it still effective?
A: I remember. It is still inside someone's phone (laugh). However, now the the safety device is our heart. It is a time when each other's thoughts are the most important. Thankfully, the members are very good at doing mind control. When I see them I don't feel uneasy but only feel proud.

Q: You guys are upright & straight. I am worried about when will B1A4 good image reach a limit.
A: When we first started, we thought we should throw that image away. We tried researching in order to try out the change. It is not that we are confined with such an image, but that this image suited us the best. This is the clothes that fits us the best.

Q: How about Actor Jung Jinyoung? There might be a limit to roles isn't it?
A: On that point, I was relieved to be able to act in tVN She is wow as a gangster. The uncommon gangster! In Love in the moonlight, the director said that "it would be good when Yoonseong tries to kill someone and has that slightly psychotic gaze". It is good to have reversal in acting. Even though I have an upright image, it is great way when I am doing an incredible role and a reversal effect.

Q: When I read you interview, it seems like you use words like "reversal", "memories", "perfume" a lot.
A: That's right. Those are my favourite words. "memories" are the energy for me to move forward. When I am feeling down, I feel like I gain strength when I look back into the memories. When I write songs, these memories are of help to me. "perfume" will remind me of someone. Though not distinct, but I like the faint feeling that it gives. On the other hand, I hope that the perfume I use can let someone be reminded of me.

Q: Since you debuted since young, you probably made lesser memories compared to the others.
A: If I wasn't a celebrity, I don't think I will have such memories. These are memories different compared to the rest.

Q: It is a really optimistic interpretation. As expected of Positive Jung.
A: I have always been a positive person. Among the nicknames that fans gave me, I like "Positive Jung" the best (laughs) If they become bad memories, then I would not like to recollect my memories. So I need mind control. With such thoughts, I wrote the song "Love then...". There are such people, there are such incidents, it is a story about thinking of goodbyes as good experiences and memories.

Q: Are there difficult times for Positive Jung too? I am curious if there is a most difficult time since debut.
A: (After pondering hard) Waking up early is the hardest. I usually sleep late and wake up late.

Q: Right. Consider it that I asked the wrong question. Then is there anything you wish to fulfil in the future?
A: Let's see, I can't foresee it. I don't know if you end up not liking such answers, but I want to be "Happy person". Happy is also a word that I like. If you were to ask me what is my goal next year, I would say "The most important thing would be to be happy".

Q: Will you be unhappy? You look happy enough even now.
A: Even though I am happy now, but I might not be happy in the future. It is something that I wouldn't know. That is why I want to continue being a happy person. When I am met with difficult things, instead of "I don't like this", my heart would feel "I want to be happy". When I say happy, I mean everything. My goal for my entire life is to be happy.




Q: Wouldn't a trainee's happiness be to debut? Recently Produce 101 Season 2 just came to an end, how did you find it? You must have felt more affections.
A: Even though the ranking is a little harsh, the fact that such opportunity arises, it is a good thing. The days of the trainee is covered with even more brutal and difficult things. Even though there are opportunities here and there and I want to do all of them, there are a lot of times when I wasn't able to obtain such opportunities. If an opportunity arises even just once more, I feel that it is good to aim for it.

Q: For conclusion, tell us about the Jinyoung in the future.
A: Instead of being a person who can do everything well, I want to be named as someone who does this and that diligently. This is the only thing that I can say for now. Maybe the preference differs from one to another. My style is not someone who likes to dig deep.

Q: Then are there anything that you would like to try in the future?
A: If the opportunity comes, I would want to try at least once. For example, Radio DJ? Even though it is expected to be difficult, but I want to experience it. If there comes a chance, I want to do a talk show or variety. I believe that the season will come for this. If the chance comes, I would want to catch it. Of course I am not talking about now. Right now, rather than doing new things, it is more important to do well in the things that I have now.

Q: I got it. I shall look forward to a group comeback.
A: Thank you. Next time if we got a chance, I want to do an interview while drinking alcohol. I think it will be more fun. :)

Shinwoo of idol group B1A4 took on Musical Hamlet. Before the first performance, as we meet him who was preparing more intensely than students, taking their exams, compare to previously, the thoughts of him broaden.

"I slept 4-5 hours last night. Compared to other nights, it's considered more."

It is not the time of a student taking national exam. It is the time of group B1A4's Shinwoo who is playing the main role in Musical Hamlet which is starting on 19th May. From Chess in 2015 and The Three Musketeers in 2016, Hamlet is his third musical. As it is a musical production that has no script and everything is through singing, it is not only important to prepare well, but he also needs to take care of his voice well too. For Shinwoo who is practicing for the musical almost everyday, and still having to get on his usual schedule, it is hard to take good care of his own health.

"I have practice from morning all the way till night, but the thing that I am worried about the most is the need to take off my top. Last year I exercised too hard, so now my body is in a mess. However, since it is not possible to starve, so I maintain it by eating meat or abalone, mostly food which are good for the body. I have to lose weight, but even if I don't eat a lot I am gaining weight, so I am worried."

Q: In the midst of your busyness, it became a topic that you also participated in the election of the President. There are overflowing comments of you saying "You're handsome" even though you shot a proof shot with a black mask.
A: I'm not sure if it's because I was tired, but my face was bloated in the morning, so I wore a mask out (laughs). Up till now, I have not missed a chance to vote during the election. I hope that fans can utilise their authority as a citizen and cast their precious vote. 

Q: I heard that the four different cast for Hamlet has their own charms this time round.
A: Lee Jihoon who is a singer and actor has been doing musical for a long time and he shows as an experienced Hamlet. I learn a lot when I practice with him. He is like a subject we are learning. BTOB member is a Hamlet who has a charming voice. I personally like hyung's voice a lot, and I am touched when he sings the song one by one with all of his might. Vixx's Ken is younger than me by one year, he has a bouncy charming. He is a atmosphere maker in the practice room. I'm a little embarrassed to talk about myself, but if I were to quote what people around me says, I am Hamlet who has my own heavy resonance, so it fits Hamlet. I am able to live my own charms and act as Hamlet with my own colours.


Q: You came from a musically inclined family with your mother being a trot singer and your sister majoring in pansori. Did you get influenced by your house to become a singer?
A: I think I was influenced as my house always has music playing. There is not one second where we do not have music. My mother will always have a music program on. As such, since I was born I was surrounded by music, I thought it would only make sense if I grow up to be a singer. There is almost no other dream that I had other than being a singer.

Q: The era now is planning to make music that brings comfort to youths.
A: I was born and grew up in Chungbok Chungju. Since young, I was famous for being able to do music well. When I was in High school, I form a band called kaepgol and do performances with other schools and club. Even though I was deep into music and careless at my school work, I was not those kind who creates trouble in school. As I was a pioneer, on the contrary, I am the one scolding kids who are trouble makers. I was not able to just let it go when I see kids who stand up against the teachers or smoke. With a sense of justice, I will talk to the kids who have gone astray or give them a scolding. So we hardly get into any trouble. Shall we say that I am a young yet old student? (laughs) Now that I think of it, I can understand the behaviour of those friends. I think that it was the childishness during that age.

Q: Does your parents like that fact that you were active in a band?
A: I don't talk a lot to my parents. I was a very cold child. When I was in 3rd year of Middle school, I opened up my heart to tell them that I want to be a singer , they replied "I hope you will be able to High school and study hard. How about participating in University music festival when you enter a University?" My studies was good and I even became the class president when I was in Middle school, so I had some expectation (that they would allow). No matter what kind of thoughts my parents were having, I did band without them knowing. The money that they gave me to enrol into an academy, I used it to enrol into a music academy. It was my life's first deviation. It was only when one day my home room teacher asked "Does your parents know that you are attending a music academy?" that I told my mother honestly. I thought she was going to object the fact that I want to be a singer but unexpectedly, she told me to work hard on it and cheered me on. I wish I could've told her earlier. After that, thanks to my mother's staff, I was able to attend a music academy in Seoul and did auditions more actively. When I went on a youth music festival "Chin Chin Music festival", I got a prize. The managing director of my current entertainment company saw me at the music festival and picked me as a trainee. My band member, Jooyeong, who did a duet with me at the same music festival also became a singer. He is currently serving the army right now, but the singer who sang a duet with Sistar's Hyorin is that friend.

Q: You were a trainee for 2 years since the third year of your high school. Were there any difficulties during that time?
A: The practice studio was very poor so there were a lot of ups & downs. When it rains, water will come through the ventilator, and the floor would be flooded, it was a cramped and shabby underground practice room. There was even once when Jinyoung and I scoop up water and mopped the floor. Now these all became a fun memory but the members whom stuck through that period together are really like family and sticks together.

Q: In 2012, you acted in sitcom "I need a fairy" and started acting before any other members.
A: One year after I debuted as a singer, it was a coincidence that I get to do the drama, it was a fun experience. Even though I had acting lessons before I debuted, but I came to know that acting is hard and I was able to feel that I am lacking. Since then, I have wanted to do well in and acting so in 2013, when I was able to get into a university, instead of a music major, I chose an acting major. However, it is not easy to have work and studies at the same time. Even though I am having a break from school now, when I get the chance to be able to attend regularly, I intend to go back to school.

Q: Comparing actor and singer, which one do you have an aptitude for more?
A: In the past, I would definitely say a singer, but now as I do more acting, there are times when I ask myself if acting would suit be better. It gives that catharsis and ecstasy that being a singer can't feel. However, I ultimately still wants to be a singer. But I want to be able to make my fans proud with my acting.

Q: Other than just musical, how about taking on dramas and movies too?
A: We kept trying to grow towards that directions but there are times when we are unable to take the role due to schedule clashes, there are also times when we failed the auditions. When we first debuted, there were a lot of musical proposals that came but I rejected. There were fears about musicals. I felt that I still do not have the skills to do a musical, however, when I did Chess in 2015, I regretted not going it earlier. I was able to enjoy a different joy compared to standing on the stage as a singer, I was also able to meet a lot of people who sings well and are outstanding in their personality.

Q: Is there any role model actor whom you want to learn from?
A: I want to become someone like Song Kangho. He acts well, takes on challenging roles, and is a steady and constant person. He is really cool respectable.

Q: Is there any motto of your own that keeps you in watch?
A: When I was young, it was "Live humbly". I always feel a need to bend my knees and live according to my condition. Right now, rather than saying that my motto has changed, the words that I always think about would be "Don't self justify yourself". I find that if I did things that I regretted and not think that I was wrong, making excuses for myself and self justifying, that it makes me very narrow-minded and stupid. Also, my motto for my life in the future would be "Live enjoyably". I find that it is very difficult for me. Whenever I do something, I tend to be hard on myself and push myself to the edge in order to get good results so I find it hard to enjoy it. I wonder if I am able to enjoy life at 60-70 years old.

Q: What do you normally do during your rest days?
A: I make music. That way, we can release an album. Jinyoung and I are in charge of writing songs. Our styles are different from each other and after we make a song, we will put it into the songs we will pick for our albums. Rather than feeling competitive about Jinyoung, there are a lot of things to learn from him. There are times when Jinyoung listen to a music and is able to analyse it in a certain way. Even though he is a friend, he is respectable.

Q: Your parents must be proud that they have a decent son. Are you still the cold son you were previously?
A: I contact them a lot more compared to previously. Previously, I don't really call them. My father's health isn't good. When I saw his ill image, I thought a lot. "Time has passed by a lot. My father is no longer young. I have to do better!" thoughts like these. I think I matured a little now. I hope those reading this interview will not be late and regret, but treat your parents well.

Q: You debuted for 7 years, if you were to pick a point that you have discovered about yourself?
A: The past seven years has been intense. There are things that made me regrets but I feel that if I remain constant and work hard, I will be able to pull it through and I can be praiseworthy of myself. Also, 7 years ago, I was not able to show my feelings to my fans well. I find it shy to say I love you so I will tell them I like you. However, the fans like hearing I love you and now I tell fans I love you.

Q: How would you be like if another 7 years went by?
A: I think it will be like now, working hard making music and doing performances, living in fiercely. However, I hope that by then, I would be able to have the freedom to enjoy life more. Even though I like making music and doing performances, but I feel that if it becomes a job, work would become obligatory and mechanical. For someone who makes music, this cannot happen. In order to become an artist who can give our listeners their laughters and tears, I feel that we need to be able to have a comfortable heart.

Q: Please let BANA know about the activities you will have in the future.
A: We are in the midst of making music which will bring comfort to the youths who are carrying a lot of worries in this era. Also, we have plans to release a new album and doing concert tour in the near future soon. We hope that it will be a good present to the fans so we are preparing and working hard, so please give us your support and cheer on us till then. (laughs).

How was our five years old? Our words are clearer than just "uh" and "ah", our steps are definitely faster than our small steps. When asked "What do you want to do when you grow old?" they could use all the fingers to count and have dreams with high expectations. B1A4 6th debut anniversary resembles a 6 years old kid who is growing up well. When we asked them about things regarding the music they love, the stage, promotions and their fans, their eyes sparkle like a kid and answered, the shining six years old B1A4.

Q: It is your 6th year anniversary.
JY: Time flew past. Our debut felt just like yesterday (laughs) however, as the years pile up, we also want to do better.
GC: We are the most thankful to the fans who have been with us for the past 6 years. We are looking forward to the things that will unfold in the future. We wished for the time during fanmeeting and concert to pass by slowly, and the days to just pass quickly. We want to spend more time with the fans.

Q: You guys have been together for more than 6 years. What are some of the things that have changed or have not changed?
SD: Firstly, my appetite has always been the same. (All laughters)
BR: Members all got more comfortable. We have been together for 9 years since trainee days. They felt like friends but at the same time felt like family.

Q: If you were to illustrate the members as a family member?
SD: Jinyoung would be a mischievous 5 years old. (All laughters) CNU would be someone younger... about 3 years old? When one was really cute.
GC: Sandeul would be a year 2 middle school kid going through puberty.
SD: Make that year 1 of high school.
BR: I feel like a university student. I have been wanting to travel a lot recently.
JY: Gongchan feels like 50 years old.
BR: Nono, an elementary school kid who likes to play game!
SD: Games and age has no relation. Gongchan feels like a 30 years old uncle.
BR: No, an elementary school kid. He jokes around a lot.
CNU: Let's settle with elementary school kid. Channie looks really cute when he jokes around.
SD: Let's make it 5th grade elementary school class president!

Q: There are members that I am curious about. "Mischievous 5 years old Jinyoung" and "Cutie 3 years old CNU"?
BR: Shinwoo is someone who has very serious thoughts originally. However, he has recently got cuter. He used to get troubled over what kind of coffee to drink but recently he just goes straight "Ice Americano", "Ice Choco"!
JY: I still like Strawberry Yoghurt smoothie.
SD: And that makes you feels like a mischievous 5 years old. You only like to eat things that can't be found anywhere easily. If we don't get it for you, you would throw a tantrum in front of the shop. (laughs)

Q: What would be the colour of B1A4 who has debuted for 6 years?
SD: B1A4 fills up the album with songs that we make. As the five members live, and as we try to put what we felt into the songs, the sentiments that B1A4 had during then can be found in our music. Wouldn't that be B1A4's colours?
BR: It would be hard to describe it with a word. However, from what I heard from people around us, they would say "B1A4 is good as expressing B1A4".
JY: I feel happy when I hear such words. If you come to know about and say "Ah, this is B1A4", when you listen to a music, I find it a competitive edge. That is our goal. To be a group which can carry our own colour. I am constantly troubled about that.
BR: It is a fun worry. We have fun together and release our stress through music.

Q: The first half of the year was mostly focused on overseas promotions. You guys did a 4 cities tour in USA this February.
BR: Its been a few years since our USA tour. It was always amazing. There were a lot of people who came to watch it this time too.
SD: Usually our USA fans would only sing along to the english lyrics, but this time round, there were local fan boys and they were even singing along to our Korean lyrics. (laugh)

Q: There were such passionate fans (laughs) What do you think would be the reason why fans with different nationality, race and language like B1A4?
JY: We are also curious about that. I think people in Korea likes us because of our relatable image. On the other hand, we wonder if there are other reasons as to why overseas fans likes us even though we are unable to go to them often?
BR: So I asked around (laughs) Someone I know in USA told me that it is because among the many Kpop artists, the energy that we produce when we are together is good.



Q: Usually when we talk about Kpop artists, we tend to think of knife sharp dance moves. On the other hand, B1A4 stages are more towards being emotional and freestyle.
CNU: That's our differentiation.
JY: (Being really serious) But really, if we want to do it, we can.
SD: If it is too sharp, those watching might get cut so we don't do it. (all laughs)
CNU: We prefer songs that we can have fun together, and make such music. I think it matches with the performances too.

Q: Are there any countries B1A4 which to penetrate into?
BR: Whenever we do performances overseas, we will always think that there are more fans hiding in other countries. I feel that even as we work hard and promote in Korea, we will also need to work hard and promote overseas too.
JY: I want to perform in England. Because of a layover, we only managed to watched a performance (laugh)
BR: I want to go Africa. I want to perform on the same land that the animals are running on.
GC: What are you going to do when the lions bite you?
BR: On a vast land outdoor (pretend he didn't hear it)
JY: You just need to on your bluetooth speaker.
SD: Go live at the airport.

Q: You have been putting your own works into your albums. Your 3rd full length album Good Timing was mostly produced by Jinyoung as well as composed and written by Shinwoo.
JY: We originally all like music, (so producing music) its possible.
SD: However, sitting besides Jinyoung makes me think I wouldn't be able to produce music. You can't sleep well, you arrange the songs, does the mixing, mastering...
BR: Especially when we were writing songs for the previous album, I feel very bad for Jinyoung. He was going on varieties and drama, and even preparing the album. When I look at him, I wonder if I would be able to take it.

Q: 2016 was really Jinyoung's year. You had non-stop activities. Mnet Produce 101, God of music, KBS2 Love in the Moonlight, and even B1A4's album.
JY: Even though it was like that, I had a good time. If we received the song from another song writer and only did our own producing, the feeling would be different. Good Timing was an album where we thought about with the members, write songs, and it was also something that we want to show fans after a long time, so it was fun. I wanted to quickly edit the song so that I can let the members and the fans listen to it. Be it mixing or mastering, I feel the best when the members' reactions are good, and I will feel a sense of accomplishment.

Q: Other than Jinyoung, other members were also breaking through in their own areas. CNU musical, Sandeul solo album, Baro and Gongchan dramas.
BR: We always monitor each other through our chatting room on the messenger.
CNU: We will send captures of dramas or upload them on to SNS to promote. Ah, last year when Sandeul and I was doing musical "The Three Musketeers" with double casting for D'Artagnan, Baro came to watch the performance for about three times. Gongchan sat through the whole day to watch two performances. It wasn't something easy and I am thankful.
BR: It was fun even though I watching it three times. Because even though it was the same character, the way Shinwoo hyung and Sandeul portray it is different.

Q: Your loyalty to each other is amazing.
JY: However, they ignore the drama. (Towards CNU & Sandeul) You guys come to the filming set!
BR: That's right. When we are filming for drama, the members will only cheer for us through the phone. On the other hand, Yoo Yeon Seok hyung and Son Hojun hyung came to the filming set to cheer on me...
CNU, SD: We will go! we will go!
JY: Send a coffee truck to the filming site!
SD: I promise (all cheers)

Q: There is something I want to congratulate Gongchan for. Recently he appeared on web variety "존잘러". It is a variety that has amazing visuals of boy group to appear, I have to agree that he is a "face genius" (laughs)
GC:  Vixx Hongbin, Astro Cha Eunwoo also appeared on it. I appeared on the last episode. They said I was "the final round boss". (laughs)
JY: Gongchan is really, looks on top!
SD: Before we debut and I was to come up to Seoul to be a trainee, I had a video call with the members. When I saw Gongchan's face, I thought I had to go to Seoul. He is the most good looking guy I've even seen in my entire life.

Q: Do you also share with your members on the difficulties you faced during your solo activities?
JY: We do such stuffs. When I am working with a director for the first time and the members knows about it, they will ask me how was the filming set atmosphere.
CNU: Recently when Baro was acting in Closed Eyes, he was going through a difficult time as the character.
BR: In Closed Eyes, I am acting as a singer who is pretending to be blind. Before this, I acted as a psycho path murderer in God of noodles. The feeling of the two characters feels the same. I was troubled about how to make the details of the two characters different.
JY: Baro constantly take on difficult roles. As the years goes by, he is acting characters which people can relate to. I think he is doing well.

Q: Even though it is a character in Closed Eyes (the novel), it is different from the web movie.
BR: This is the first time Closed eyes is made with a low budget and releasing as a paid content. When I started with this production, I was hoping that it could go onto the big screens to meet more people rather than staying as a low budget movie. Together with the actors in the movie, I hope that there will lots of opportunities going to look for them. With such a heart, I came to film Closed Eyes.
JY: As much as a short film or a short drama can be really good, but there are a lot of situations whereby they don't get the attention that it deserves. I feel that it is an area where all will need to work hard together for.

Q: When CNU & Sandeul act in a musical, it is also has limited viewers.
CNU: That's right. I keep on feeling about this as I continue to do musicals. Including me, many musical actors, performers and production team worked very hard for the production and I hope that we can get more love from the public. This isn't a one person's problem. I hope our society and public can be become one that embraces many different kinds of culture.




Q: As we look back the 6 years, let's talk about the time when you became strength for one another.
GC: There was one day when I fell really sick. I usually don't tell when I am sick, but on that day I was so sick I had to take a rest from the schedule.I felt really sorry and before the hyungs left, I went to the car and apologised. However, the hyungs all said "It is more important to rest and get well. We will take care of your empty slot." Baro hyung also brought porridge and other stuffs to my house.
BR: However, we weren't able to fill your empty slots.
JY: Channie's face is so shiny we can't fill that. (All laughs)

Q: The first half of 2017 has went by. Give a score for yourself now at mid-way.
GC: 40 points for me. The remaining 60 points will need to be filled up with the remaining 6 months.
BR: I want to give myself 90 points. If I get 10 more points, I should receive a present! (All laughs) (T/N: Saying in a very cute tone)
SD: Mine would be 60 out of 120 points.
JY: Why is there 120 points.
SD: There are 12 months in a year! Even though we weren't able to promote domestically in the first half of the year, but everyone has been working very hard even before we started releasing out 3rd full length album and even right now with overseas promotions and solo activities, we are taking them on without rest.
JY: I would give myself 50 points.
CNU: I would give myself 5 points. I am not satisfied. I will have to work harder (laughs)

Q: So in order to get 100 points (120 points for Sandeul) in 2017, what are some of the things that you wish to do?
SD: I want to have activities so that we can see the fans a lot. Self produced reality, Whenever the members go on a holiday on their own and come back, we will always say "I want to do this together with the members." I think it would be good if we get to do a program where we go to various places and introduce them.
GC: I want to do a variety like B1A4's Youth over flowers. The real us we are together, I want to show about our own story.
CNU: I want to release lots of albums. Like how my heart wants it, I want to release one weekly. (laughs) I want B1A4 to constantly be releasing music and standing on the stage, I think if we were to do that, it would be like a gift to the fans.
JY: I want to release something even if its not a full length album. Project, single, collaboration, all sorts of music activities. Even if we don't go on shows, I want to be able to let them hear more of our music. Our members all have their own charms. I hope that even if its not something of their area, they will still be trying to take it on.

Q: Then recommend something for your member's solo activities.
JY: I think Sandeul will do well acting in a sitcom.
SD: I want to act as an important role.
JY: I hope that Channie can be a character like an internet novel main guy. I hope Baro would broaden himself as an actor.
GC: Not only in acting, but I hope to do more genre in terms of music as well. Jinyoung hyung is good in DJ-ng, and I hope that Sandeul will do trot like how Big Bang Daesung did.
SD: It seems like I am really multi-talented (all laughs)
BR: I hope CNU hyung can release a solo album. Since his dance moves are nice so I hope it is a dance genre.
JY: (laughs) This are all thanks to everyone doing well in their own areas, we have a lot of greed.

#COMMENTARY
Q: When it is B1A4's rest day, Staying at home vs going out
JY: If it is good, I would want to head out but when I am really tired, it is good to stay home. I like staying at home to watch TV.
CNU: I usually stay at home. Actually there isn't a lot of time to rest so I will try my best to rest as much as I can and replenish my energy.
SD: My personality is usually "I like heading out" but nowadays I like staying at home.
BR: Going out. I am an active person so when I stay home I get bored. I like heading out even if it is for a walk on our rest days.
GC: Electronics. I find it fun to stay home and game. I am a stay-home type.

Q: An action from a girl that makes your heart flutter?
JY: When she is well-mannered. Rather than any other actions, I find girls who are good mannered really cool.
CNU: When she smiles very brightly.
SD: In a cafe, she would not be bother about me and in immersed in her own work, I find it heart fluttering.
BR: Clear supervision and focusing on her own work, that is very attractive.
GC: Smiling when she looks at me. It seems like nothing but such actions makes me heart flutter.

Q: The anxiousness before going up the stage or the satisfaction after the stage, which do you like more?
JY: Satisfaction after a stage. It felt like I have done something and there is a sense of accomplishment. 
CNU: Satisfaction after a stage. As much as the anxiousness before a stage gives me butterflies in my stomach, but the latter keeps my heart in suspense.
SD: Of course I like the satisfaction after a stage, but if there isn't an anxiousness before going up the stage, then there will not be the satisfaction that comes after the performance, so I like both.
BR: I like the latter. It is all worthwhile and happy after being with the fans.
GC: The satisfaction after a stage. Standing on the stage and looking at the fans makes me very happy. When we come down from the stage after a performance, it felt like we did something with the fans. I really like those moments.

Q: Dance song vs Ballad song, which one do you like more?
JY: I think I really can't choose from this. Because I really like both, depending on situations, the music I listen to is also different.
CNU: I think there are a lot of people who will choose dance songs but I would choose ballad. As the time goes by, it might also change.
SD: I like Dance song because I think it makes me healthy, and I like the delicate energy that emerges from the song, so I like both.
BR: Dance song, It always makes me happy and uplifted.
GC: I like ballads with serious tone. Recently the weather has been good and I find myself listening to ballads often.

Q: The kind of song want to write now and the things you are interested in recently.
A: I am writing B1A4's song. I am interested in the things of daily lives.

Q: As you do your solo activities, when is the time you feel like you have fellowship with your members?
A: As I do my individual activities, when I see my members' faces after a long time. My heart feels at ease, and there is a sense of security,

Q: If there is song to enjoy Summer?
A: When it is summer, I usually listen to upbeat songs. Songs that are refreshing and makes me feel happy. Among those, I like Break bot's one out of two.

Q: The time and places you like, where are they?
A: When I end the important work after a long day, reaching home and laying on my sofa without even taking out my clothes. That is the time of the day that I like the most.

Q: If there is something you like who appeared, are you the kind who will takes charge?
A: I want to be someone who will takes charges. If I can even tell her things like "You are lovely", "You are pretty", isn't that good?

Q: Any episode recently that made you laughed a lot?
A: Sandeul recently pitched a ceremonial pitch, but he threw it really weakly so I laughed. However, when I went on the mound on my own, I threw like that too (laughs)

Q: Any minor yet happy moments recently?
A: When I get to chat with fans and talk to them, I feel really happy.

Q: When your heart feels empty, what do you use to fill it up?
A: Performances. When I stand on the stage and engage with fans, I find it the happiest and I think that I am able to fill my heart up and securely.

Q: Any kind of sports you like the most?
A: Bowling, golf, cycling, swimming, snowboard etc. I like sports (laughs)

Q: If there is anything that you are doing to develop yourself right now?
A: Studying English, reading, movies appreciation, writing songs etc.

Q: What are the points that you think changed the most and on the other hand the thing that doesn't change after debut?
A: I came to be very mindful of my actions. I hope that my little actions will not end up making someone else suffer. You can also say that my sense of responsibility increased. The thing that doesn't change would be the happiness when I work.

Q: You received praises for your acting in KBS2 Viva Ensemble as an autistic guy names Sunwoo. How do you feel when you acted?
A: I hope that the stereotype about the disabled people can be gone, even if its slightly. Also, I am very thankful to have such a good opportunity to participate, and it will be a precious memory.

GONGCHAN
Q: Any fun memories you made together with your members or friends?
A: Gathering at one's house with the members to play game and have a meal. Felt like we went back to our dorm days and it was really good.

Q: Familiar things vs things that are stranger to you. Which do you like more?
A: Familiar things. Even though I like things that are stranger to me too but because its the first so I get afraid. So I seems to be someone who likes familiar things more.

Q: Things that makes me happy?
A: No matter where and when, Banas who give me the most happiness! I treasure them!

B1A4 who returned to Japan with a cheerful and refresh song after a long while!

What kind of songs will they bring us, we are looking forward to it!


Q: B1A4 members reconfirmed their fate through a 2 days 1 night filming! The group stepped forward as they changed their Japan label this year. The first single which they released "You and I" by Jinyoung, and the coupling song "Blue Moon" by CNU, both in charged of writing and composing the song themselves.

JY: You and I is a song that is filled with the meaning of wanting to launch forward hand in hand with our fans.
BR: When I first listened to things song, I want to have fun with the fans.
SD: It is a refreshing feel and fits B1A4 perfectly.
CNU: Blue Moon is a song about the longing for the girl who have left. I thought it would be a song where people can see a different side of us.


Q: If there is a change after you changed label?
BR: I am feeling new about it. We also want to work harder to meet those fans we are staying in far away places and have not met before.
JY: The people working in the label has vast knowledge about music, so when we talk, I get inspirations. I am looking forward to what kind of music will we make in the future.
GC: We tried something new and covered other artist's song. I feel that I might be a good chance for those who do not know us up till now.
SD: The song we covered, Choo Choo train, is a very popular song and I hope that people feel closer to us through this.


Q: You guys filmed your MV for Choo Choo train in a Japan ski resort, how was it?
GC: Right now, the members are staying separately, because we had to the film the MV, we stayed in the same building. It has been a long time since we slept together, and it felt good as expected. Things of the past came to our mind, and felt that we need to stay together.
JY: We went back to being young and had snow fights together.
BR: Also, there was an episode, while filming, a spark from the campfire flew to my head. (laughs) It was very hot so I flew into the snow.


Q: In You and I, the word future came up. What if you guys could go into the future?
JY: I want to see my child. How much do we look alike, what kind of kid, a male or a female, and hopefully there will be about 2-3 of them.
GC: I want to see my wedding ceremony. I am curious about who the opposite party is and also curious about who came.
CNU: We have a song called !0 years later, I want to see myself in 10 years later. I feel that the fans will be there even then and I want to thank them.


Q: The things you want to do with Japanese fans in the future?
SD: We did it once in Korea, having a picnic with fans.
All: Me too!
CNU: Go on a picnic, play games, and have lots of fun with them.
GC: It would be good to go flower viewing too. Or rent a cruise?

BR: Sounds good~~
SD: CNU hyung will buy the cruise! We will board that and have fun together~ (laughs)


B1A4's results!
A research of B1A4's interest as we give them two choices! Ignoring the group name and questions that make them choose! Which side would they be on and what answer is closest to their interest? Members who don't hesitate to say "I am on this side!", what would the questions that divide B1A4 be?


Q1: If you were to date in spring?
B: Do sports together - Sandeul: I fun sports fun~
A: Do picnic together - Gongchan, CNU, Jinyoung, Baro: A warm spring calls for a picnic.
Right on the first question, the boys created a B1-A4, surprising them!


Picnic in the day, sports at night, both sides are satisfied?!

SD: Since I like sports, I want to have fun together! Golf, bowling, table tennis... I also like cycling~
BR: Other than Sandeul, the four of us chose picnic. The weather in spring is nice, the warm sun rays, I want to spread out the mat and eat delicious food leisurely~
CNU: It is about the delicious food when it comes to picnic. For my girlfriend, I would make the food myself and bring lunch boxes there. Kimbab, sandwich, salad, whatever food there it.
GC: I have the same reasons as the hyungs. The weather is spring is nice, I want to have fun outside.
JY: I would want to picnic in the day and exercise at night... (laughs) I want to do jogging too!

Q2: If I were to travel with the members?
B: Entrust it to the rest - Sandeul, Gongchan: Bring me to the good places~
A: I will lead the way and set up plans - Shinwoo, Jinyoung, Baro: I find it more fun to lead and set plans rather then follow around.

GC: Last year, Baro, Sandeul and I went to Bali for a trip together. That time, Baro was the one who planned everything. Where to go, what to eat and spoke good English, he was in charged of everything (laughs)
BR: The make me want to bring them to a good place. I am usually the kind who likes setting plans for myself.
JY: I also feel happy when I bring the members somewhere.
BR: If all five of us were to go on a holiday together, where will we go?
JY: Jeju Island is good, Japan is good too.
SD: Okinawa!
GC: Hokkaido! Oeta, Beppu hot springs!
JY: We will obviously have fun no matter where the five of us go.


Q3: I eat my favourite food...
B: Last - Sandeul, Gongchan, Shinwoo: A gourmet will eat the nice food last!
A: First - Jinyoung, Baro: We wouldn't be able to eat if our tummies are full~

The reason why we eat the food last is because of a gourmet? Sandeul is a paradox!
JY: There are a lot of things to eat towards to end. If I were to leave the food to the last, if I am full, then wouldn't I not be able to eat it anymore?
BR: Something for the change, I wish to fill my tummy with the things I like to eat.
SD: Nono. If you were to eat the thing you like first, the subsequent food will have no taste!
CNU & GC: Oh~~~
SD: So eat the food that you don't like first, and the food that you like would be like a finale.
CNU: Even with meat, you eat the part where you need to chew first, and then you slowly move on to the marbling where the soft meat is.
GC: Yes yes, a gourmet eats like that. I agree~!


Q4: If you were to confess to the person you like?

Since it is related to the new song, we divided the talks into these different categories "B1A4", "FASHION", "LOVE", "MUSIC", "BANA".

Things about the members, the fashion they like, episodes when they feel their family's love, the things they want to challenge in terms of music, their thoughts about fans. Let's know it all now!



B1A4 & I


JY: If I were to describe B1A4 in one word, it would be family. In real life, I meet the members more than I meet my family, and I spent most of my life with them, even though we are not blood related, I feel that we are like a family. I am always thankful for the members. Even though I am a leader, all of them are doing very well so I don't really need much support. As much as I am thankful, I am sorry that as a leader, there are times that I am unable to do more for them. I want to continue promoting as B1A4 and create more awareness and become a nation's group 10 years down the road.


CNU: B1A4 is like a family to me too. Precious like a family and giving strength to one another. Even though we are as close as family, there isn't once when we fought. There are of course times when we don't see eye to eye, but during then, we don't deny it because it is different, instead, we talk about it and try to understand each other. We also check on the broadcasts that other members go on. When I see them being active and working hard, I get motivated and tell myself that I have to work harder too. I feel that music is something that makes the world unite, so I want to be a group who can spread music to the entire world and receive love from the world.


SD: B1A4 is like a very important treasure to me. As to why I say so, the career as a singer to me is very precious, it is a dream that is like a treasure. Because B1A4 is the one who fulfilled this dream, so I want to stay together like this forever. Like a flower that doesn't fade away, I hope that within my heart, B1A4 will always be blooming. We have a song called 10 years later. The contents goes something like what we are doing right now, 10 years later, who will be there for us, and we don't know if there will be anything left. I let that song be a warning to me, to work hard to the best that I can so that 10 years later, all 5 of us can still be together.


BR: B1A4 are friends forever. The members have been together from the past till now. We are always working together, sleeping together, eating together, and because we spend more time with each other than with our family, there are no other words that I can think of to describe this other than friends. Family-like friends whom I want to spend time with even when we grow old. I want to work hard as a member of B1A4 10 years ago, and I want to make fans feel like we didn't grow old at all. Not losing to young idols, I want to be a cool senior who is always full of energy.


GC: If I were to put B1A4 in one word, it would be water. To be, B1A4 is something that I cannot live without. I can feel that we are always thinking for each other. I am really thankful that the members are always looking out for the rest before themselves. I want to be a better group as B1A4 10 years later and I hope that the members can become closer to the image they want to be. Personally, I want to be able to give strength to the people whom I like.



FASHION & I


JY: The fashion items I like are watches, I bought it recently too, but after I bought it, I have no idea why but I don't like it... (laughs). Right now I am just keeping it at home. My favourite choice of clothes are black colour. The clothes I have are mostly balck. When I sleep, I like to wear soft and fluffy grey pyjamas. I like it because I like the texture.


CNU: I did shopping today! Since there was some time, I went to Harajuku and bought a family jacket which I really wanted. The clothes that matches me the most, and the clothes I have the most are dark coloured clothes. I also like colours that are eye catching. I also wear red and blue clothes. When I sleep, I don't wear anything, even the underwear. When I was in my 10s, I did this and came to know that it is comfortable. I like the feeling of the blanket touching my skin.


SD: Since I started attending sports class since I was 5 years old, from then onwards, I thought training outfits are the most comfortable, and when we wear something, we have to wear comfortable stuffs! (laughs). When I grow up, even though it is a little embarrassing... When I hear Baro telling me "You clothes are weird" I get embarrassed. However, until I really get it from someone directly, I wouldn't be able to tell that my clothes are weird. Recently I bought vans sneakers and jerseys, cos they are comfortable. (laughs)


BR: I like that I am able to challenge fashion. It is not that I have sense, but I try to wear things that are attractive, I learn what is cool and what is strange when I ask "How are my clothes today?". Recently I bought vans sneakers and sun hats, and is enjoying the street hip hop style.


GC: I like black turtle necks. If I open my drawer, other than the clothes that I've received, all of them are black. The hyungs have their own style. Baro's is street, Jinyoung's dandy, Shinwoo's in the middle of those two, Sandeul's training outfit (laughs). I am taking reference and good points from them.



LOVE & I


JY: When I chat with my family on the phone, I feel that it is really a great support for my work. They will praise me for the broadcasts that I go on, just that one word can give me strength. My ideal type is someone warm hearted. I find someone with good manners attractive. Depending on the person's actions, I get jealous. For example when she says this like "That person is cool..", I will feel jealous. Even though I know it is not on purpose, at the starting I will feel jealous, I find it cute~


CNU: I feel my family's love when they call and we ask each other "Have you eaten?", "Are you healthy?", though my character is one who doesn't contact much. My ideal type is someone who understands me, a girl who embraces me warmly like how a mother would. However, I hope that she will sometimes wants to lean on me. I am someone who gets jealous very easily. I hope that the person I like can look at me only. Frequently when fans tell me that they are getting married, I will reply "I object this marriage!" (laughs)


SD: Not long ago, my grandma passed away. She waited for me till the last moments, when she heard me say "Granny, I'm here" her pulse went up slightly, its feels as if she knows that I am there. She passed away after getting to hear my voice. I felt like she must've wanted to see me. After that incident, I feel that I cannot not treasure my family more. Even though it is hard to express our affections for the family, but we cannot not be honest about it. I am originally someone who finds it hard to do it but I am trying my best.


BR: Yesterday my little sister debuted. My father is staying in my hometown whereas my mother is here in Seoul, the three of us stays together. When my sister was a trainee, I wasn't about to chat well with her because I was busy, but now she debuted and I managed to chat with her after a long while. I watched all the music broadcasts she went on, rather than giving her advice, I am cheering for her. "Don't feel down even if you hear bad stuffs, there will be people supporting you if you work hard. Let's gain strength to gather."


GC: There was once my mother knew that I was overseas and she made a point to match the timing and contacted me. "I feel that she still watch over me even when I am far away, and I feel her love". My ideal type is someone who really likes me and makes it very obvious. If my girlfriend goes out and play with her friends, I will tell her to "come back safely" and be slightly worried about her. As a guy (human), I think we will all be worried.



MUSIC & I


JY: The song that I listen to a lot recently is a song called Woman by Honne. The voice is really good, when I listen to it, my heart feels at peace. There are a lot of times when I shower and listen to songs. When I listen to songs while getting water splashed on my body, it gives a different feeling too. Musically, the things I want to challenge is making a new genre. Even though there might have been everything but I feel like that is more. I want to keep challenging.


CNU: I must listen to music when I shower. If I don't listen to music, it feels like as if I am not showering. I will listen to various songs on random. Musically, my goals is to give a song to Gongchan within this year. His voice is soft and beautiful, and everything thinks that he suits singing ballad songs, but I want to challenge on something else. (GC: It doesn't matter what kind of genre. Just give me a song that will hit #1 on Oricon chart. (laughs)).


SD: When it comes to music, honestly, it feels a little scary. Even though I have been nothing but "someone who sings" since I was young, I am worried if I will be able to sing for the rest of my life, if things don't go well, how can I overcome it, there are such worries. Even though it is not possible to not get stressed and sing, but on the other hand, if I don't work hard, it is not possible too! There are a lot of things I want to challenge in the future. Even though my voice suits rock and ballad, I will research on funk or R&B and want to sing romantic songs with a gentle voice.


BR: Music is like my right hand. I have not thought of the day where I can't do music, I want to keep doing it. If I still do rap when I turn into a grandfather, isn't that very cool? (laughs). Because I really love rap, and I really love hip hop, there are still a lot of things that I cannot not do. If it is possible, I want to release a hip hop album. I haven't got much chance to show it other than in concerts, the fans are also waiting for it. However, I feel that it is not the time to do that yet, but I hope it can be fulfilled one day.


GC: Recently, I have been listening to the song called "Just 10 more mins" but a 2 man group named Ants. The song is about fetching a girlfriend home and not wanting to part, asking to give 5 mins more, 10 mins more. I feel that such feelings are the same when we are together with BANAs. Whenever a concert, or a fanmeeting, we always hope that we have 10 mins more, especially since even if we don't talk, we still feel good, it is great if we can meet banas for even just 10mins. That way, when each of us is going through a difficult time, we have something memorable to think about.

JY: I feel that I always want to meet banas. So whenever we meet, be it concert or what, it is always fun. I want to be together for a long time, I feel like this feeling gives each other strength. Whenever I want to see them I update my SNS and check the comments of banas. A memorable thing that we did together was going on a picnic. It was the first time we got so closed together and because of that it was memorable. It would be great if we could do that with the Japanese banas one day. The things I want to ask banas would be what is the part that you like about us. I want to know it specifically.


CNU: Right now at this moment I want to meet banas. I want to meet them everyday. There are days when we get stressed out, days when we feel difficult, whenever that happens, I think of banas and gained strength. When I want to mee them, I got on the SNS to read their comments. There are a lot of impressive moments with banas so it is hard to just quote one, but if I were to say one, it would be during last year's comeback. It was the first time showing them a performance through a showcase and their screams were all happy, and it was memorable. The things that I want to ask them everyday would be "Have you eaten today?", "Are you sick today?". I hope they eat well and stay healthy.


SD: Banas are treasures to me like how B1A4 is. It is very precious to me and I hate it if people takes it away from me, so I keep it in a vault. I want to use our singing to capture the hearts of banas so that no one can take them away from us. When we stand on the stage and meet banas, i feel the happiest. Recently, I felt that the time passed really fast. Kids who once wore uniform now are wearing suits when they come to see us, elementary school kids are now wearing school uniforms. They say "Oppa, I am now 20 years old", and I will reply "Wow, already 20 years old?!". It has been 7 years since we debuted isn't it. I don't feel it when I do other things, but when we meet banas, I feel that be it banas or us, we have grown.


BR: Banas are people with presence that are hard to express using words. We debuted for 7 years, and because banas has been walking this path with us till now, I feel that the distance between banas and us are closer now. For example, kids in high school are becoming university students and becoming an adult. It feels like seeing a long time friend growing up and feeling proud. When we stand on the stage and up till the moment we disappear backstage, I want to keep singing and till then, there is no happiness that tops the fact that we can be together. 30-40 years down the road when we have white hair and our wrinkles increase... even then I want to ask if banas will still be there cheering for us.


GC: Before I sleep, I will always recall on the things that happened on that day, what are banas doing, are they eating well, are they sleeping well, they are the top when I think about such stuffs. When its days we don't have anything, I will feel very lonely. So I will think about whether the banas will still maintain such unforgettable relationship with us, that is why i started replying banas on twitter. When I search and play on the internet with them, i feel like our distance between us would be closer. Banas has their work and school work so there are also times when they want to meet us but can't. I want to ask them "During such times, what do you do?".

CNU - Born on 16 Jun 1991

Q: You are the one who wrote the coupling song Blue Moon, where did you get your inspiration when you wrote the song?

A: There are times when I wrote by own experience, or get inspirations from people around me, there are also times when I get inspiration from music too. The things that I cannot do without when I write songs are macadamia nuts and chocolate. No idea why but I can only write a song well if I have something in my mouth. There are a lot of times when I lock myself in my composing room and watch videos in there, or did various things, then the ideas came.


I find it cute to make someone jealous on purpose.

Jinyoung - Born on 18 Nov 1991

Q: Jinyoung who is acknowledged as a producer as well as an actor. How do you divide being a singer, actor and producer within yourself.

A: Everything is the same, its 100%. No matter which is it, it is something that I like. I don't want to be careless in any of it. I want to do my best for everything. In another words, it is possible to do things when I focus. I will try my best to do the things that are given to me, a new thing that I want to challenge would be a radio DJ. I want to be a regular on a night radio broadcast.

Baro - Born on 05 Sep 1992

Q: This coming spring, your web movie "Closed eyes" will be released, how was the filming like?

A: There were a lot of times we filmed it at night and in the outdoors, it was freezing! It was as warm as the ski resort where we shot our MV (laughs). The clothes were thin, it felt even colder when we filmed at scary places. The genre is thriller and there were brutal scenes, but as we find out who the murderer is, I find it find. I think it will be an interesting production so please look forward to it!


What do you do when you want to meet us?

Gongchan - Born on 14 Aug 1993

Q: A commonly acknowledge gamer Gongchan. Please let us know the game you played recently and what are the strong parts of you and your gaming friend, Hongbin from Vixx.

A: I am recently playing this game called Overwatch. Hongbin is also playing this game. Hongbin is the strong one. Overwatch is a game with 6 players in a team, I always play hard but there are times when people do weird moves, so I feel anxious (laughs).


I am happy that Gongchan cheered for me.

Sandeul - Born on 20 Mar 1992

Q: Sandeul started his solo activities last year. Was there any points that changed or something that was impressive during your promotion period?

A: I have to do 5 people's job on my own so it is not possible if I do not put in energy. I didn't know that and during practice, I strained my throat too much so it become bad for a period. If I was given another chance, I would take note of that point. Something impressive would be when Gongchan fly to Japan to cheer on me. The fact that he came on purpose gave me lots of strength and I was touched. I would also want to do such visitation when the rest of the members do their solo activities, and become a pillar of strength to them.

GONGCHAN: Born on 14 August 1993, 181cm, Blood type A. "I appeared in variety shows this year, I want to show everyone a new side of me." the youngest aspires. Even though he is known to have a perfect appearance, he surprises us when he ask for his poses as he could pull off a school uniform look very well. "I like school theme or action theme movies and dramas, among all, I like movie Clows Zero the best."

CNU: Born on 16 June 1991, 182cm, Blood type A. Just like what people said about his eye smile, his gentle smile and face is his trademark. His favourite Japanese food is ramen. Even though he prefers spicy ramen, he said "I had enough of the hell ramen that I use to eat", saying that he had enough of it because it was too spicy. "I am B1A4 myself. No matter when and what I do, I will be with B1A4." announcing that as he shows that he is the owner of such a warm heart.

BARO: Born on 5 September 1992, 178cm, Blood type B. A rapper who really likes ichiran ramen. On the order sheet under the "Secret sauce" section, he will put Level 8, ordering an extremely spicy bowl. "In Korea, there isn't any food that is spicy to that extend, so when I want to eat very spicy food, I think of ichiran ramen. His nickname is squirrel, and his special move is to act eating an acorn with a squirrel face. When shooting for his solo cut, after closing his eyes and focusing, he did his shots.

JINYOUNG: 18 November 1991, 178cm, Blood type A. The one who supervises and leads the teams as the leader and producer. His favourite Japanese food is nato. To the extend he eats the nato from the convenience store and says "It is neat and delicious, but it tastes different from the usual nato." A guy who knows the difference between the natos. As an actor, he also shined as he received the Male Rookie award on KBS through his production last year. His slender and long eyes, as well as his gentle gaze, he is a professional when it comes to winning fans hearts.

SANDEUL: Born on 20 March 1992, 178cm Blood Type A. The main vocal who does his utmost best no matter what he does. When filming, he sticks his body out and actively response to us. When we did the interview, he reenacted the scene of his musical to appeal to us. The healthy and original sweet potato, he said, "When you come to Japan, you have to eat that." Last year October, he released his solo album "Stay as you are". He also was featured in our magazine's Vol 13, and he also hope to have a solo in Japan too.

Step by Step

A cheerful and steady footsteps as they start a new journey!
For us, it will always be a three-legged race run with our fans no matter when. 
They started promoting in Japan since 2012 and its their 5th debut year in Japan for B1A4. This spring, they changed their label to Universal Japan and is starting a new journey.
Their first single right after their shifted label is You and I, a shining and sparkling song that shows their huge wish to want to run forward with their fans in a three-legged race in the future. 
Moving forward one step by one step, they talked about their aspirations cheerfully.

Stepping out with the restart song which leader and producer Jinyoung wrote, "You and I". He revealed that the song is filled with meanings of a new start. This is episode 2 of B1A4's start. What is the "miracle" that the members have newly encountered recently?

Q: This spring, you guys starting on a new start. Are there any different points from the B1A4 we have seen up till now?
BR: Firstly, we are looking at the new start with a new resolution. Also, even though we know that fans are all over Japan, there are still a lot of fans whom we have yet to be able to meet. We want to work harder towards meeting such fans too.

Q: You even changed label, looks like we can see a new B1A4?
JY: The in charge in Universal Japan has a deep knowledge about music so when we shared about things, I get a lot of inspirations. From now on what kind of music should we make, what kind of albums will it be, we ourselves are looking forward to it.

Q: Your First Pressed released B version has the remake of Choo Choo train. It is the first time you guys make a JPOP cover.
GC: We did it as we thought "What can we do to show a new side of us..." So we tired something we haven't done before and tried to made a cover of other artist.
SD: Choo Choo train is a very popular song in Japan isn't it. We would be happy if people hear this song and feels closer to us.
GC: We wonder and look forward to whether people who do not know us previously will come to like us through this song.

Q: What is the main point of You and I?
JY: It contains thoughts like "We will want to show a better self and a more matured self as we go forward.". However, we cannot just fly forward with just the five of us. So we made this song with the thought in mind to "Hold hand in hand with our fans and walk forward with all our might."
SD: When I first heard this song, I felt that it is a very upbeat song and it suited us a lot. I thought about how can we sing this on the stage, and how can we have fun with the fans together.
BR: I heard the song in Jinyoung's writing studio, I thought it was a very fun song. And I want to quickly stand on the stage and sing this song! I want to sing and dance to this song with the members and fans.

Q: There is a saying that it is a "Miracle that you met" if you meet the person you love. Are there any miracles that you guys have felt recently?
CNU: Meeting the members
All: Oh~~~~
GC: I also feel this way. (Hi-5 with CNU)
SD: Me too! (Held hands with the members)
JY: There is nothing much I could add to that. If I were to add somemore, I would say meeting Universal Japan is a miracle!

Q: When do you feel like "It is a relief that I met this member"?
CNU: Yesterday, Sandeul and Jinyoung had some friction due to a different opinion. However, even though Jinyoung is older, he respects the younger's opinion, when I see that, I thought, we really match very well.
GC: Not just the two of them but we all respect each other. Even when we have our own opinions, we listen to other member's opinion first. I like that point.

Q: Are there times you guys fought?
JY: Almost none. Even when we do, it is just conflict over different opinions. But since this can be solved by talking it out, we are all peace-lovers.

Q: When you say a conflict, is it in terms of music?
SD: Of course there are lots of times there are conflicts over music.
CNU: Even though we have conflicts over music, we also talk things through to solve it.

Q: Is Jinyoung the only one mediating?
JY: Things will be fine when they speak to the person who has a different opinion, so I don't really need to come forward. If the conflict gets big, I do have thoughts of mediating it but so far, there hasn't been a case like this.

Q: What kind of girls you met would be a miracle to you?
JY: A good-natured girl. I find the heart very important, and find someone with good manners very attractive.
BR: Someone who matches well with me like a friend, someone who can have fun with me together. I think it would be cool if I can meet someone like that.
SD: Like Baro, it is important to meet someone who matches with me. If I were to choose between a cat-like girl or a puppy-like girl, I would think I would like a cat-like girl more.
CNU: Someone who can understand me, someone who can embrace me with great love like a mother. At the same time, I hope she can looks upon me and I would want to embrace such a girl friend too.
GC: Someone who likes me a lot, so much that even the people around will know.

Q: If you really were to meet such a girl by chance, would that be fate?
JY: That would definitely be fate!
CNU: Meeting banas are like fate too!

Q: The coupling song Blue Moon is written and composed by CNU.
CNU: The single this time round is important point to us. I made this song with the thought that it would be good if it could be a gift to the listeners in Japan. I would be happy if they could listen to it and ask "So B1A4 has such colours too".

Q: How did you make this song?
CNU: I shut myself in my room and made this song. As I do it, I got a lot of inspirations.

Q: The lyrics "Today's Blue Moon feels like your lips" was metaphorical.
GC: It is originally a bright moon, but because the girl left, so it looks like a blue moon...?
CNU: It's slightly different. The blue moon symbolises the girl who left. The blue moon is the girl who left, and when I see the blue moon, I naturally got reminded of the girl and her lips. This is the meaning.

Q: The girl in this song seems to have left the reason is due to the main guy, so it is full of longing for the girl. Who in B1A4 is the most similar to the main guy in the song?
CNU: Jinyoung. In the drama, even though he met with a misfortune, he is still unable to tell the female main and because of that I thought he fits the main guy the most.
BR: Ah... so it's sad.
JY: I agree too.

Q: You guys shot your MV in the plain of Nagano Prefecture, it looks very mesmerising. 
GC: We went to the ski resort for 2 days 1 night to shoot the MV. We got tangled up on one bed and slept together. It reminded us of the days when we stayed in the hostel, thoughts like "We are friends after all" came to my mind.

Q: Was there any episodes while filming the MV?
BR: We were playing around the camp fire and with sparklers. The sparks fell onto my heart and before I know it, I shouted "It's hot" and jumped into the snow and felt okay!

We felt that we were friends after all at the ski resort.



Q: The album "B1A4 fan hit Korea" which was released at the same time is a collection of songs that fans voted for. Is there any song that you thought, "If it was me, I will definitely choose this song!"
CNU: We have a lot of good songs so this is a hard decision. If I really were to choose, Beautiful target.
BR: For me its Chu Chu Chu.
GC: Chu Chu Chu~
SD: For me its the song I really like, Road.
JY: For me its Love then.
GC: For me, I think I would choose our Korean debut song, OK.

It is a new journey as you change to a new label, when you guys go on a trip or holiday, what is your must-bring?
SD: Of course its the wallet,
BR: That's the case for me too.
CNU: As much as it is hard to travel without a wallet, for me, its pouch. I like neat things so when I go overseas, my luggage would have several pouches to subdivide my items and arrange them.
JY: For me its bluetooth speaker. No matter when and where I am, I would like to listen to music.
SD: Edible things. If I travel inland, I will bring along meat. When we reached, we could barbecue it and eat together isn't it!
CNU: So it is not possible to forgot about bringing a lunch box. (laughs)
SD: Be it lunch box or meat, I want to bring lots of it and have fun with everyone.
GC: The Vaseline which I carry around on normal days too. I have dry skin so I will apply before sleeping.

Q: Is there anything you do that makes you think "If I do this, things will go well for me", or are there any jinx you believe in?
SD: Before I go on the stage, I will brush my teeth.
JY: Everyone does it.
SD: I do it just right before! Because I might be eating something before the performance so just right before I go on stage I will brush my teeth.
CNU: The point here is, what are you eating just right before the performance.
SD: It is usual that I am eating even till right before we go on stage. The important thing here is I brush my teeth just right before going up! If it is not just right before, I will feel bothered about something and don't feel refreshed.
BR: For me it would be to sleep a lot the day before and I will do well.
CNU: For me, it would be when I write a song, I definitely need to chew something in my mouth in order for it to go smoothly. I ate macadamia nuts as I wrote Blue Moon.
GC: For me, I would have to eat before recording. If I am empty stomach, my voice will have no energy.

Q: Is there any jinx for the team?
JY: We will do a "Hwaiting" cheer before we go on stage. If we don't do it, there will be things that do wrong.

Q: What is the thing that gives you courage when you try something new?
JY: Banas. Fans meant a lot to us. When we meet Banas, we get energized, have fun, and because of them, we can launch forward. Banas are the source of our power!
GC: I think a little differently.

Q: Differently?
GC: Even though fans are important to us, to me, it's the hyungs.
All: Ohh~~~~
GC: I am the type who will go scared when I do things alone. For example, when I went on a show that needs me to dive, I was really scared. At that time, the hyungs shouted "Hwaiting! You can do it!" and thanks to that, I was able to do it. When I make a mistake during during recording, the hyungs will encourage me like "It's okay". Recently on ISAC, we did archery. That was my first game, and it was the very first shot so I was nervous. At that point, the hyungs were at the back telling me "It's okay! You can do it so don't be nervous!". So I shot my shot calmly, and I shot into the camera that was set in the bullseye. At that point I thought "So my hyungs are my source of courage".
JY: (Feeling touched, Gongchan shook hands with CNU, and gave each other finger hearts after that. CNU kept on rubbing Gongchan's neck)
GC: Thanks to them, we managed to get Gold medal.
CNU: I think it is a natural outcome. Even though other teams did well, there isn't anyone like us. I thought, should we let the other team get the Gold medal this time round~ but I felt it is not something we need to do now yet. (laughs)

Q: You guys have debuted in Japan for 5 years, and in 2017 you guys changed your Japan label. What do you think is the talk of the town?
BR: I hope it would be B1A4! I hope we would be listed as a hot icon in this year. Also my sister who debuted as I, I hope she can be the talk of the town too.
JY: Would VR drama be trendy?
CNU: We have experience for filming a VR drama, it was very fun!
GC: I think it is doing something alone. Eating alone, travelling alone, having fun alone... I think it would be good if whichever contents that allows people to enjoy being alone would be good. I often eat alone. Korea is now slowly having BBQ place for solo eaters, so I think it is growing trendy now. I have never been to a BBQ place alone before.
CNU: I think for me it would be words like Peace. In this year, I hope that many countries would be at peace.
SD: I have been thinking about this since end of last year. In 2017, I wonder if fishing would be trendy among the middle age people. There has been an increase in the number of youngsters getting interested in fishing. They are a lot of idols who also finds fishing fun. I have some experience on fishing in the sea, from now on, I want to brush up on my skills, no matter the sea or the river, I want to try and fish there.

Q: Your schedule in Japan is packed too. You have a fan meet tour in April.
CNU: No matter what we do, we want to have fun with fans, so we have this, I think it would become good memories for everyone.

Q: Also, you are having your Japan tour Be the One in June.
CNU: We will show various things that people have not seen before so I find it very special.

Q: Other than fan meet and concert, what are the other things you wish to do with fans?
CNU: We once did a picnic with fans in Korea and hope to have one with our Japan fans too.
SD: I feel the same too. (Gongchan also agree and all three smiled and shook hands)
BR: I want to go for a picnic.
CNU: Have a picnic and play some games with fans. Since it was really fun, we want to do it with the Japanese fans too.
GC: It would be good to go flower viewing with them, or rent a cruise and have fun with them.

Q: It will be very expensive to rent a cruise, would that be okay?
SD: CNU is a wealthy person so he will probably buy us the cruise? So let's go on a private cruise with CNU!

Q: Personally, is there anything you wish to start this year?
BR: I want to learn the piano.
JY: Me too!
SD: I earnestly want to doing fishing well.
GC: What would be mine...
CNU: I want to learn guitar, and give a solo song to Gongchan. 
All: Oh~~
GC: Yay~ Then, my goal would be to sing my new solo song!

Q: What kind of song would you like to gift?
CNU: Gongchan has a very gentle voice, and fans would probably be thinking about a quite ballad or something that makes you happy when you listen to it, but oppose to that, I want to try something new!
GC: It doesn't matter whichever genre it is for me. (Shook hands with CNU)
JY: I actually also gifted Gongchan a song. However, Gongchan is still keeping it preciously (laughs).
